Most people don’t realise to the full extent what they believe in, so why should I be swayed by them concerning my beliefs or likings? Take punks for example, are these modern-age punks not a joke? They are unaware of why the first punks started acting the way they did, they’re a cheap carbon-copy of an oppressed generation that needed to break free from the shackles of an oppressive moral belief-system. What are the current criteria for being a punk? A leather jacker, some safety-pins and an interesting haircut. Have that and you’ll be embraced as one of them.

This goes against the original need for the punk lifestyle: Rebel against the system and rules, against the conformism. By all dressing the same and listening to the same music, that they think is for punks, they fuck over the essence: do what YOU want to do.

MyWay™ does not have the ego to claim there is a way to do it. Only you can decide what your beliefs are. My MyWay™ could be a crossover of liking ‘punk’ music while going to church each week and wearing nothing but plaid (God forbid). Your MyWay™, on the other hand, could be sleeping in till noon every day and saying Fuck You to religion while listening to Bach.

Your MyWay™ does not need to be acknowledged by others, it doesn’t need a name and the masses don’t have to adopt it in order for you to be satisfied, it’s your way of life, not their way of life. As long as you are honest about your feelings and longings your MyWay™ will always be true and it will be able to guide you when your resolve to not transform into a slave of the modern world is wavering.

I first heard them when I was about 11, Music was still unknown to me. I listened to some music on the radio when someone else was happening to listen, but it felt as though there was something wrong with it. The essence was missing. It was not the kind of Music I could relate to, or enjoy for that matter.

Then all of a sudden my brother – who is 20 years older – gave me the debut album of the Chemicals, Exit Planet Dust. I put it in the cd-player and listened to it, stunned by the complex beats and addicting rhythm, my frontal cortex lit up and the demarcation point in my Musical preferences was a fact.

I had a revelation, an idea of the waveforms I enjoy most of all. I then realised what real Music was. It got me interested in some of the other stuff my brother had gathered over the extra 20 years he has on me. Ranging from AC/DC to ZZ-Top and everything in between.

While I deeply love all of them, no other artist has ever had the impact on the way I think about the vibrations in the air we call Music. It started with Leave Home and it’s still going strong, up to Brotherhood.

The Chemical Brothers has always been the music of my choice when I’m happy or content. As a side-effect, every time I’m in need of some emotional comforting and soothing, I can play the Chemicals and reminisce about better times. The warm glow of the beats and the rhythm taking control as though all my worries fade away.

The Chemical Brothers have always been here for me when I needed them most, be it in good times or bad. They don’t judge and they don’t criticize, they do what they do best: Making Music for everyone to hear, and for the really lucky few to live by.

Again I would like to apologize for the scarse updates as of late, but my sideproject is coming along nicely. It will be made public soon enough, but until then I cannot give you a lot of information.

First of all I’d like to say sorry for the scarse updates the last few days, but it has it’s reasons!
Me and some other people are working on a new project that will be closely related with what this blog is all about. More information shall be made available soon.

Having started it as “Art by Kevin” in 2005, which was rather pompous come to think of it, and renaming it to “Not Just Another Blog” when I switched it over from http://photos.planc.be to http://kevin.planc.be.

But a few hours ago I had the a moment of clarity and came up with a name I actually liked and found fitting, Optimal Luminosity! Let’s just hope I can get some of that Optimal Luminosity in my work.

With this name-change also comes a change of scenery. I grew tired of the white and gray and I found this lovely little template with darker grays and shades of green and I rather like it.

I have added a few links to share my stuff with sites like FaceBook and Reddit, so feel free to post whatever you see there.

Finally, I’d also like to say that I am currently trying to get all my ‘older’ material – but not in any way bad – online because they are already partly processed and I am in working on an efficient system to orden my new material so that it is easier for me to work with it. Once that is done I will start adding new material to the mix.

It has been a while since I have posted, sowwy…

School started again so it took a little adjustments and getting used to. I have also been doing fair bits of work behind the scenes. Right now I’m working on a portfolio to show off my work in real life. Once it’s done I’ll also transport it to a PDF and put it online, although several pictures I’ll use get their origin here.

Expect more updates again!

It’s been quite a while since I have last posted here, and I am quite sad it had come to that. Unfortunately due to some technical mistakes and other stuff to do my blogging had come to and end, not that that is a great loss.

Due to the grave technical problems I have moved my blog and it’s content to a WordPress blog. Not not as satifying as a home-made script but it’s fast. All my old posts have been moved, but some links might not work as expected. Also all the timestamps have not been updated because it wasen’t possible for me to tamper with them.

Furthermore I would like to appologise for any and all spelling mistakes I have made in posts before, but I would like to assure you my English is getting better daily, including the posts I will make here.

I’m going to try and start something new and never seen before! I shall try and weave a story about some of my pictures linked together by a theme. Because this is the first time I want a theme where I have some liberty, so the theme will be ‘Girl Story’.
